Speech Writing and Public Speaking
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project centered on crafting and delivering a persuasive public speech titled “Bangladesh: The Effect of Propaganda Theory.” The speech explored how propaganda through emotional manipulation, selective narratives, and the spread of false information shapes public opinion and can escalate into real-world consequences, including violence and social division.
Grounded in propaganda theory, the speech blended analytical depth with storytelling, using local and global case studies to illustrate manipulation tactics such as fear-mongering, one-sided reporting, identity-based division, and media distortion. Real incidents, including the 2021 Facebook-triggered unrest in Bangladesh and the 2025 cultural march misinformation, were used to highlight the urgent and ongoing threat of unchecked digital misinformation. The delivery combined formal presentation techniques with vivid narratives and a strong call to action, urging audiences to engage in critical thinking before reacting or sharing content online.
PROJECT JUSTIFICATION
In today’s hyperconnected digital era, information travels faster than truth can catch up. Social media platforms, while powerful tools for connection, have become breeding grounds for propaganda that can exploit cultural sensitivities and ignite societal tensions. Bangladesh has witnessed repeated incidents where manipulated content led to real-world harm, making this an urgent issue to address.
This project is justified by its goal of empowering audiences to recognize propaganda tactics and resist emotional manipulation. By framing the subject within a local context and presenting it through a persuasive yet relatable speech format, the project bridges the gap between academic theory and everyday digital behavior. It reinforces that combating misinformation is not solely the responsibility of media gatekeepers; it is a civic duty shared by all citizens.
