PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project involved the production of a corporate audiovisual piece titled “AxisMIL: An ULAB Outreach Program Leading the New Horizon of Media Information Literacy in Bangladesh.” Designed as a 4-minute, 20-second inspirational video, it aimed to showcase the mission, structure, and impact of AxisMIL, a program dedicated to combating misinformation and disinformation through education and awareness.
The video combined interviews, infographics, GFX animations, and campus visuals to create a dynamic and informative narrative. Featuring voices of key advisors, coordinators, educators, and members, the production explored the challenges posed by media information illiteracy, the innovative training approaches of AxisMIL, and the personal experiences of its participants. Through carefully planned shots, visual inserts, and an uplifting background score, the project delivered a concise yet impactful portrait of an initiative striving to build a more informed society.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION

In today’s media-saturated environment, misinformation and disinformation spread faster than ever, eroding public trust and distorting democratic processes. Media Information Literacy (MIL) has emerged as a vital skill for citizens to critically assess content, identify false narratives, and make informed decisions. AxisMIL represents a pioneering effort in Bangladesh to address this urgent need by training individuals to navigate, verify, and responsibly share information.
This project was justified by its potential to amplify AxisMIL’s mission, extend its reach, and inspire greater participation. By capturing authentic stories from those directly involved in the program, the video not only documented the initiative’s achievements but also served as a persuasive tool for advocacy, outreach, and recruitment. The format allowed for a visually engaging and emotionally resonant representation of a cause that is both socially and globally significant.

LEARNINGS & OUTCOMES

Working on this project provided valuable lessons in media production, communication strategy, and teamwork:

  1. Storytelling with Purpose – Learned to craft a corporate video that balances factual information with emotional engagement.
  2. Technical Proficiency – Improved skills in camera work, audio recording, lighting, and post-production editing, including graphics integration.
  3. Interview Techniques – Developed the ability to conduct and frame interviews that draw out authentic, compelling narratives.
  4. Visual Communication – Gained experience in using infographics and GFX to present complex ideas clearly and attractively.
  5. Collaborative Production – Strengthened coordination among team members, managing diverse roles from scriptwriting to equipment handling.
  6. Time & Budget Management – Delivered a polished audiovisual product within the constraints of a fixed schedule and budget.
  7. Advocacy Through Media – Understood how audiovisual storytelling can amplify social causes and engage broader audiences.
