PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Look Before You Leave is a stop-motion animated advertisement designed to address the critical issue of brain drain in Bangladesh, targeting the Youth Generation, digitally native, socially aware, and highly visual learners. The campaign follows a creative visual narrative of a puzzle map of Bangladesh, with each piece representing a student. As students board a departing plane, the pieces collapse into a black void, symbolizing the nation’s loss of talent.
The animation builds tension with each departure, showing the gradual fragmentation of the map until the message “Look Before You Leap” transforms into “Look Before You Leave,” urging young audiences to carefully consider the long-term impact of emigrating for study or work. Backed by emotional visuals, patriotic undertones, and compelling sound design, the ad concludes with a call to action encouraging the nation’s youth to stay, contribute, and be part of building Bangladesh’s future.
PROJECT JUSTIFICATION
Bangladesh is experiencing a growing outflow of skilled youth, with long-term implications for national growth, innovation, and development. According to global data, countries with high brain drain rates face slower economic progress and reduced human capital. In this context, it is essential to address the aspirations of the Youth Generation, many of whom are considering moving abroad, by presenting them with a counter-narrative that emphasizes the value of staying and contributing locally.
This project is justified by its innovative approach to advocacy, merging powerful stop-motion visuals with factual research to resonate deeply with its target audience. By using symbolic imagery such as collapsing puzzle pieces and a consuming black void, the ad appeals to viewers’ emotions, logic, and a patriotic sense of responsibility. The format not only captures attention but also fosters reflection, making it a compelling communication tool against the silent but significant challenge of brain drain.
