Communication Research

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Guided by our faculty’s expertise, our team of classmates came together to craft a research proposal that would not only be relevant, but also carry cultural significance. After an in-depth exploration of scholarly literature and recent industry trends, we set our sights on a pressing yet often overlooked question: How can Bangladeshi musicians inspire their audiences to purchase and stream music through online platforms?
Our project delves into the art and strategy behind promoting digital music consumption in a way that strengthens the local music industry. By uncovering audience motivations and testing innovative promotional methods, we aim to help musicians turn digital platforms from mere showcases into sustainable sources of income.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION

The Bangladeshi music scene, vibrant in talent and heritage, is facing a quiet crisis. Rampant audio piracy and the overwhelming pull of free services like YouTube have left artists struggling to earn a fair living from their craft. Even with the arrival of international streaming giants, most listeners remain hesitant to pay for music a reluctance that stifles creativity and discourages long-term careers in the arts.
Our research seeks to turn the tide by equipping musicians with strategies that encourage audiences to value and invest in digital music. Drawing on both local realities and international success stories, we aim to identify the emotional, cultural, and practical triggers that influence paid music consumption. Ultimately, our work aspires to build a future where Bangladeshi artists can thrive online reducing piracy, boosting paid subscriptions, and fostering a self-sustaining creative economy in the digital era.
